Heather Jones, PhD, LCSW
Hello, I’m Heather Jones. I was born in Texas and raised in the Washington, DC area. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason University, and my Master’s in Social Work and PhD in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and have over 22 years of experience working with adults, couples, and families. I take a collaborative approach to therapy and tailor approaches to fit each person’s needs, including use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Poly-Vagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotional Freedom- Tapping, and various alternative approaches.
My areas of skill include treating depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, grief, chronic pain, dementia, adults with Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD, caregiver stress and burnout, life transitions, including aging changes, and marital and family challenges.
You will be supported in an open, interactive, and safe therapeutic environment, which will facilitate learning and growth. I use strategic and educational interventions to assist with internalizing and practicing skills for the betterment of your emotional health and interpersonal relationships.
